REVIT EXPERIENCE

With almost 10 years of solid daily modeling experience creating electrical models, ongoing training, testing and setting goals my Revit career has allowed me to reach modeling at a lead level. With all the practice, discipline, education and guidance throughout the years this progress has only enhanced my appreciation and passion to model with attention and care while enjoying the models I create.

In the past 9 plus years I have worked on modeling everything from small to medium size models on my own to large models in a team environment in a support role to systems lead modeler over a small team of five or less support modelers.  Modeling everything from small colleges to stadium builds, airports, colleges, retail outlets, government buildings, green technology solar projects and high-rise buildings.  From small data centers to large multi building campus data sites including site power, lighting, medium voltage, LV data, fire alarm and telecom systems.   These include both underground and overhead conduit runs, cable tray, busway systems and supports.

CERTIFIED AS A BIM MODELER II IN ELECTRICAL DESIGN - NOVEMBER 2020

Prior to becoming part of the BIM industry, I had spent 10 years in the field as an electrician working at projects like UTI (University Technical Institute) campuses, Phoenix Children's Hospital Tower, Intel in Chandler, AZ, Phoenix Cancer Center, Gainey Ranch Resort, JC Penny's, Fairway Lodge At Arizona Biltmore Estates Village and University of Arizona College of Pharmacy to name a few.

REVIT INSTALL PROCESS

As a lead modeler it is important to have the ability to setup a model correctly according to process and procedures in place by the companies department.  I have had 5 plus years of setting up large models including setting up parameters, filters, templates, views, schedules, legends, sheets and global settings.  Adding in core families, setting the types for each.  And modifying existing families when required using the procedures and process in place.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

I am very knowledgeable in Revit.  From the interface to the menu items to the ribbons and daily use of all aspects of the program.  Below are a few items that are essential for a lead modeling role and a couple extras that apply to a company as a whole.

USER INTERFACE

Very knowledgeable with the User Interface and all areas and their functions. Including all menu items that are used when modeling electrical design projects.  With ongoing training keeping up to date on yearly version changes is essential to modeling projects quickly and efficiently.  And spending time on LinkedIn allows me to stay current on the MEP topic of all the programs, plug-ins and settings available for Revit.

REVIT ADD-INS

Add-ins are an essential part of the lean process when modeling large projects and teams within those projects.

Autodesk Point Layout - Ability to create, edit and modify.  Add prefix, group and edit within a text file.  Understanding of the positioning through a coordinate system.  Ability to import and export to text and 2D/3D models.

IDEATE Software - Professional BIM Data Management.  Ideate BIM Link, Ideate Explorer, Ideate Style Manager and Ideate Sticky.   Also very knowledgeable in the Ideate Apps which allows you to create sheets with the Sheet Manager, align views with the Align tool, clone sheets with many options and create views by duplicating by level or area.  Pretty extensive add-in for Revit.

RTV Productivity Tools -  2D and 3D exports into single and/or batch files.   Export to DWG, NWC, DXF, PDF and IFC files.

CTC Express Tools - Used Project Cleaner to clean .RVT background files of unused views, sheets, filters and types along with using the existing Revit purge process to lower the file size of an individual .RVT background file.

eVolve Electrical MEP - Very knowledgeable in eVolve Electrical MEP including use, editing and setting up the Family Browser.  Modeling of eVolve hanger, conduit and cable tray families.  Use of all quick tools on the ribbon allows less modeling time and better proficiency.

PROFICIENT IN DATA & SHARING PLATFORMS

Very proficient with Microsoft OS 10 & 11, very knowledgeable in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook. Past experience in software development using MS .Net and Full Stack web development both front end (HTML, CSS and JS) and back end data storage through SQL.

LEADERSHIP

A good leader does not just communicate and lead a team, they help them to rise up into leadership roles.  They provide paths helping them to learn and excel.  They help the team to mentor other to communicate and teach each other while bringing up the team as a whole.

Leadership is not just managing people on a team. It's the ability to mentor and identify strengths and weaknesses of each team member and giving them the tools and path to grow. To listen to good ideas and implement them. To reward accordingly for hard work shown. It's the ability to make good solid decisions and the ability to find good solutions that are good for the department as well as the company as a whole. It's the ability to continue learning and becoming lean within the industry as the industry changes and evolves.
